So here’s my story…
My favorite sport is whatever sport is in season, and I’ve been fortunate to work in the sports industry for 15 of them, spending the last six with Major League Soccer as Director of Sponsored and Custom Content. I excel at building, growing and leading departments and teams of diverse creatives and am an expert in sponsored content creation.
My path in sports started at the collegiate level at BYU, where as an undergrad I started building the athletics video department. I ran the department for 10 years, growing it from a one-man-band to a staff of 5 and directing all creative video projects for 21 teams, department initiatives and special events. Additionally I produced all live, in-arena video board shows for 6 sports in 4 venues – including football and basketball – and managed creation of all video, graphic and sponsored elements for event presentations.
Transitioning to professional sports I joined Major League Soccer with the challenge of growing our sponsored content business. Along the way I expanded the team to a staff of 5, achieved year-over-year growth in content production and revenue, and built out a network of freelance creatives in key US markets and Canada. I’ve collaborated closely with major brands like adidas, Audi, AT&T, Heineken, TAG Heuer and Wells Fargo to develop sponsor integrations for video, social and editorial content and directed content marketing initiatives to promote their ownership positions for key tentpole events – All-Star, Playoffs, Skills Challenge, and Rivalry Week.
Outside of work you can find me on a beach or playing golf in the summer time, and snowboarding in the winter, and always looking for men’s soccer leagues and pick-up basketball games to join. I have two boys, and spend most weekends coaching and cheering their teams.
